Technology is all around us and is playing an ever important role in our job as professionals. Throughout my training in the early intervention certificate program at Kent State University we were required to utilize technology in a way that was useful to both families and professionals. One way to do this was through the use of video recording on an iPad. This is a wonderful tool because it allows me to go back and watch my interactions with families and fine tune my coaching and instruction. It is also great for families because I can share the videos with them and they can see how their own interactions with their child are changing. It allows all parties to be reflective on our practice. Another form of technology I have used with families is online blogs. This is a great way to connect with families in between sessions and touch base on strategies and resources. I have also been working with different forms of social media to connect with families. I have created a Twitter page and Pinterest page as resources for families to use.
