The following is my Participatory Action Research (PAR) project conducted in Spring 2016. The goal of this research was to coach a parent on using intervention strategies during play in order to increase child communication. I presented this research at the Kent State Graduate Research Symposium in April 2016 and won an award of excellence for my work.

The following is my Participatory Action Research (PAR) project conducted in Summer 2016. I worked with a partner from my cohort implementing coaching strategies with teachers at childcare center in Summit County. Some of the strategies were focused on one child with developmental delays and the others were Positive Behavior Support (PBS) aimed to help the whole class.
The following is my Participatory Action Research (PAR) project conducted in Fall 2015. The goal of this research was to look at adult initiated turns with a focus child and how that child then responded. The operational definitions, data collection sheet, and results are shown below.
In the following graphs, you can see that the more the adult initiated a turn, the more the child responded. This family had concerns for the child using any type of verbal communication. As the weeks went on (sessions 2, 3, & 4) the child was starting to take his turn by using some type of vocalization. Having no response to a turn was relatively low throughout all sessions.
